FROZEN IN TIME
In deepest January, just as we are beginning to feel that the threat of global warming is now turning into the threat of a new Ice Age, Dutch designer Wieki Somers is preparing a show called “Frozen in Time” at the Galerie Kreo in Paris. Set to open on January 30, it promises to be as inspirational as her Blossom vases for Cor Unum that featured turgescent flower buds and painted leaves at the vase openings for real flowers, effectively creating a ceramic-floral hybrid.
Perfectly industrial and highly poetic, Somers’ work allies “functionality and the imaginative beauty of shapes and materials”.
