Balenciaga crop

Of all the floral patterns embraced by designers this spring, Balenciaga and Dries van Noten are my favourites. This is because, intrinsically, I feel they have approached their florals as a gardener would: a bit of old (in this case a vintage Balenciaga pattern) a bit of new (in tweaking it on the computer) a provocative layout (look at the football stitching) and, especially, an innate sense of colour and how to make its endless permutations contemporary. Yesterday, in the corner of the Luxembourg gardens next to the bee-keeper, I discovered a parterre of flowers that made me think of Balenciaga. Though the colours are not exactly the same, you get the picture:

Freshness incarnate.
