Bouquet chair

Guess what this is… a carnation hybrid? a couture sample? a mardi gras float?

None of the above. This is a closeup of Tokujin Yoshioka’s new “Bouquet Chair” for Moroso. Yoshioka was inspired by a paper installation he had shown in NYC and decided to develop the feeling into a chair. Fabric swatches are individually hand-stitched to form a dense bouquet of colour and texture. In his poetic, impenetrable way, Yoshioka states that he simply wants to make people feel happy, the way they feel when they receive a bouquet of flowers. I am particularly taken with the subtility of his colour combinations:

Happy yet? I am.
