Spring came late this year to Paris, and the cherry blossoms clustered pinkly on the trees down my street have only now finished falling, disseminating the sweet melancholy that is so specific to the sakura season… Appropriately, a package just arrived from a friend on sabbatical in Kyoto: one perfect cherry blossom preserved in lightly scented gelatin:
